Karl Rottenschlager

Karl Rottenschlager (born December 2, 1946 in Steyr ) is an Austrian social worker and publicist .

Life

Rottenschlager studied theology in Vienna and was a social worker in the Stein prison .

In 1982 he founded the Emmaus community in St. Pölten , an associated member of the Emmaus movement according to Abbé Pierre , as an organization of the Austrian Caritas for the integration of people after their prison sentence, subsequently a community for socially disadvantaged people. The community now includes four dormitories, three emergency sleeping places, two day centers and four companies that are intended to facilitate entry into everyday working life.

Rottenschlager is the founder of a social market with shopping passes for people with low incomes in St. Pölten.
