Karl Schmitz-Moormann

Karl Maria Anton Schmitz-Moormann (born March 14, 1928 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † October 10, 1996 in Princeton ) was a German philosopher and theologian .

Life

From 1946 to 1948 he studied at the University of Münster , from 1948 to 1949 at the University of Munich and from 1949 to 1952 in Münster philosophy, Latin philology, German studies and Catholic theology (1952 state examination for teaching at secondary schools in Münster and preparatory service for the Teaching post). After receiving his doctorate in 1957 as Dr. phil. with Fritz Leist at the Philosophical Faculty in Munich and in 1969 Dr. theol. at the Catholic-Theological Department of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum under Paul-Werner Scheele he was assistant to Paul-Werner Scheele. From 1973 to 1993 he taught as a professor of philosophy and anthropology at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences . Visiting professorships took him to the University of San Francisco (1978), St. Andrew College, University of Sydney (1982) and Princeton Theological Seminary (1996).
