Karl Stark (psychiatrist)

Karl Stark (born July 19, 1836 in Buttelstedt , † May 15, 1897 in Stephansfeld near Brumath ) was a German psychiatrist .

After studying medicine at the University of Jena, Stark became an assistant doctor at a psychiatric institution . He was then a military doctor for a short time before settling in Weimar from 1866 .

He married Auguste Mährlen, a daughter of Johannes Mährlen, in Stuttgart in 1866 . The marriage resulted in 10 children.

Karl Stark became director of the Kennenburg Sanatorium near Esslingen in 1868 . Five years later he went to Stephansfeld , where he became senior physician with Karl Pelman . After Pelman took over the management of the Grafenberg Provincial Institution in 1876, Stark took over the management of the institution in Stephansfeld. He was in charge of this hospital until his death.
