Karl Stephan (politician)

Karl Peter Stephan (born June 15, 1853 in Heßloch ; † June 17, 1927 in Worms ) was a Hessian lawyer and politician ( NLP ) and a member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Karl Stephan was the son of the farmer and mayor Peter Stephan III. and his wife Katharina, née Madler. Stephan, who was of the old Catholic faith, married Bertha Barbara nee Schmidt. Their son Rudi (1887–1915) became a composer.

He studied from 1872 at the Technical University of Darmstadt , from 1873 to 1876 at the University of Giessen and Leipzig University Law and became the Dr. jur. PhD. From 1879 he was a lawyer in Worms, where he was later appointed to the judiciary .

From 1911 to 1918 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency Rheinhessen 16 / Worms II . From 1887 to 1908 he was a city councilor in Worms.
