Karl Svec

Karl Svec (born June 5, 1949 in Vienna ; † August 7, 2016 in Tyrol ) was an Austrian percussionist who headed the Franz Schubert Conservatory in Vienna from 1983 until his death .

Live and act

Karl Svec studied percussion , composition and instrumentation at today's University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . From 1976 he was a member of the orchestra at Theater an der Wien as a percussionist and also worked as a conductor , arranger and composer.

He was involved in many well-known works of Austropop by working as a drummer in productions by, for example, Marianne Mendt and Rainhard Fendrich .

In addition to his directorial work at his conservatory, Svec has taught classical percussion, rhythmic training and applied harmony , has directed and conducted the symphony orchestra of the Franz Schubert Conservatory since 1992, and edited and arranged works for his Vienna Salon Orchestra and various ballads for the jazz department.

In 2004 Karl Svec was appointed professor by the Republic of Austria . In the explanation given by the Minister of Education, Elisabeth Gehrer , it was stated: "As the long-standing owner and director of the Schubert Conservatory, he has succeeded in teaching a large number of students the musical tools for their later professions."
