Karl Theodor von Gohren

Karl Theodor von Gohren (born February 25, 1836 in Jena , † December 29, 1923 in Mödling near Vienna) was a German - Austrian agricultural chemist .

He studied chemistry and agriculture at the University of Jena since 1855 and was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD. During his studies he became a member of the Germania Jena fraternity in 1855 . From 1859 to 1864 he was head of the agricultural chemical research station in Blansko ( Moravia ), then professor of chemistry and technology at the agricultural college in Tetschen-Liebwerd and from 1872 to 1899 director of the agricultural college Francisco-Josephinum in Mödling .

His main field of work was agricultural chemistry. In addition, he was interested in agricultural education. He attended many agricultural schools, studied their curricula, published reports and had a decisive influence on the development of agricultural teaching.
