Karl Timmermann (born January 21, 1952 in Marienbaum near Xanten ) is a German singer , lyricist , composer and music producer in the field of hit and popular music .

Life

Timmermann sang in the band The Dragons at the age of 16 , with whom he had a success ( Hello, I love Maria ) in the Belgian hit parade. This was followed by some attempts as a pop singer, including the title Good bye, Elvis composed by Ralph Siegel , but he couldn't establish himself on the pop market. He therefore initially practiced his learned profession of teacher . At the same time, he trolled around with the Universum group .

In 1988 Timmermann applied to Rudi Carrell in his show Let yourself be surprised as an impersonator of Barry Gibb from the Bee Gees . This made him better known, so that he initially went on tour with Rudi Carrell. He also wrote and composed his own songs.

In 1991 he applied for the Grand Prix of Folk Music . His title Niederrhein reached 10th place in the German preliminary decision. His title Leuchtturm also reached 10th place in the Lower Saxony competition Songs as beautiful as the north in 1991 . At the Grand Prix of Folk Music 1996 he was then represented with the title Vinela , but did not reach the final.

He has been married to Renate Timmermann since 1975 and has a daughter and a son. Another son (* 1979) was disabled and died in February 2002, whereupon Karl Timmermann wrote the book You Loved Life - Family Happiness with a Disabled Child , the proceeds of which went to Lebenshilfe . Timmermann and his wife work as teachers at the municipal secondary school in Kevelaer , where the family lives. Today the singer is best known as the presenter of the television program Heimatklänge des WDR .
