Karl Völkl

Karl Völkl (born August 27, 1922 in Innsbruck ; † June 14, 2014 ) was an Austrian ancient historian .

Völkl studied at the University of Innsbruck . Franz Miltner was one of his teachers and spiritual mentors (until his impeachment in 1945). In 1946 he received his doctorate in Innsbruck and his habilitation in 1956 . After the University of Salzburg was re-established in 1962, Karl Völkl was appointed the first full professor of ancient history in 1967. He retired in 1986.

He emerged primarily through publications on problems in the history of the Teutons . He has not published any papers since the appointment.

Völkl lived in Innsbruck.
