Karl Volkers

Karl Volkers , also Carl Volkers (born May 28, 1868 in Düsseldorf ; † May 12, 1949 in Neuhaus , Lüneburg district ), was a German horse painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Karl Volkerts, son of the Düsseldorf horse painter Emil Volkers , like his brothers Fritz and Max, took lessons from his father and at the Düsseldorf Art Academy , which he attended from 1879 to 1885. There Adolf Schill , Hugo Crola , Heinrich Lauenstein , Eduard von Gebhardt and Peter Janssen the Elder were his teachers. Like his father and twin brother Fritz, Karl Volkerts was a proven horse painter. Among other things, he portrayed famous horses in the main Trakehnen stud in East Prussia. Volkers married Elisabeth Möller, a daughter of the veterinarian Heinrich Möller from his marriage to Rosa Settegast, a daughter of the agricultural scientist Hermann Settegast .
