Karl Weissenberg

Karl Weissenberg (born June 11, 1893 in Vienna , † April 6, 1976 in The Hague ) was an Austrian physicist and one of the first rheologists .

The Weissenberg effect , the Weissenberg method and the Weissenberg number are named after him. At the beginning of the 1920s, he constructed an X-ray goniometer , which was later developed by Johann Böhm and was called the Weissenberg-Böhm goniometer . Weissenberg was a scientific member of the Kaiser Wilhelm Society .

The European Society of Rheology gives him the Weissenberg Award in his honor .

His estate is kept in the Churchill Archives Center .
