Karl Weller (politician)

Karl Weller (born September 11, 1885 in Vienna , † January 2, 1964 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian politician ( VF ), landowner and officer. In 1934 he was a brief member of the Federal Council and from 1934 to 1938 a member of the Upper Austrian Landtag .

Life

After attending secondary school, Weller completed the high school graduation course at the commercial academy in Vienna and then did his military service. He attended the one-year voluntary school from 1905 to 1906 and in 1908 took the supplementary examination to become a career officer. From 1909 he was an officer in the kuk Dragoon Regiment No. 2 and rose to Rittmeister in 1917 . Furthermore, Weller owned the castle and Gut Oberweis near Gmunden and was married twice.

After the end of the First World War, Weller became the leader of the Heimwehr in the Salzkammergut and in 1936 took over the leadership of the Gmunden district management in the Patriotic Front. Furthermore, he was from April 24, 1934 to May 2, 1934 a short-term member of the Federal Council ( IV legislative period ) and then between November 1, 1934 and March 18, 1938 a member of the Upper Austrian Landtag ( XV electoral period ), where he represented the state of agriculture and forestry in the state parliament in this phase of Austrofascism . Weller was also a member of the Oberbank Board of Directors.

After the " Anschluss of Austria " to the German Reich , Weller was imprisoned in 1938 for political reasons.
