Karl Wendel
Karl Wendel (born May 25, 1912 in Mutscheid , † October 30, 1999 in Nörvenich ) was a German restaurateur.
Karl Wendel has been a board member of the association since the establishment of the Düren-Jüllich hotel and restaurant association after the Second World War . His commitment was particularly important when he spoke with the restaurant association in 1970 for a connection with Valenciennes in northern France , the twin town of the district town of Düren . In the post-war years he was one of the "men of the first hour" who rebuilt the hotel and catering industry, which had fallen into disrepair.
Karl Wendel has been a member of the Nörvenich sports club since 1946. Over the course of 40 years he has been a trainer and instructor without interruption and has headed the gymnastics department of the club since 1982.
For 13 years, Karl Wendel was the first leaseholder to lease the canteen in the soldiers' home at the Nörvenich air base . In doing so, he helped to facilitate the integration of soldiers into the garrison area.
Wendel was one of those who, after all carnival activities had ceased in 1939, campaigned for the revival of the carnival tradition . For 50 years he was a member of the local carnival association KG Fidele Jonge Nörvenich 1932 eV
Karl Wendel was the holder of the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon and the Silver and Golden Badge of Honor of the Hotel and Restaurant Association of North Rhine-Westphalia . In addition to many voluntary activities, he has made great contributions to the town of Nörvenich.
