Karl Wendling (violinist)
Karl Wendling (born August 10, 1875 in Strasbourg , † March 27, 1962 in Stuttgart ) was a German violinist and music teacher.
Life
Wendling first studied at the Strasbourg Conservatory with Heinrich Schuster and Florián Zajíc , later in Berlin with Carl Halir and Joseph Joachim . From 1902 he was concertmaster at the Bayreuth Festival , in 1907 and 1908 concertmaster of the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Karl Muck . In 1909 he became a professor at the Stuttgart Conservatory , whose director he was from 1929 to 1940 and where he taught until 1945.
Wendling Quartet
Wendling was particularly valued as a quartet player, the Wendling quartet he directed performed very successfully at numerous concerts in Europe.
