Karl Wilhelm von Bormann
Karl Wilhelm Freiherr von Bormann (born April 1, 1796 in Senftenberg in Niederlausitz , † November 25, 1874 in Brussels ) was a German - Belgian general .
Bormann initially served in the royal Saxon artillery and later joined the Belgian artillery as a captain . Here in 1835 he invented the ring-shaped time fuse with a fixed cover for the shrapnel of smooth artillery , in the place of which Breithaupt placed the rotating tempier plate in 1854 . Bormann was raised to the Belgian nobility in 1859.
Karl Wilhelm von Bormann died on November 25, 1874.
