Karl Zenger (architect)

Karl Zenger (born April 18, 1838 in Erolzheim , † January 1, 1905 in Munich ; full name: Karl Gustav Zenger , since 1901: Karl Gustav Ritter von Zenger ) was a German architect and Bavarian construction clerk .

Life

Zenger was senior councilor at the General Management of the Bavarian State Railways and made numerous designs for station buildings in the Franconian region . One of his best-known building designs is the reception building of Nuremberg Central Station , which opened in 1906 after six years of construction. Zenger laid down the clear facade division of the building and designed the facade with the shell limestone, which is common in the region . Together with chief engineer Ludwig Fromm, he managed the construction of the Mühldorf – Pilsting railway from 1872 to 1875 . The Landau train station in Lower Bavaria was built around 1875 according to his plans .
