The Landau (Isar) Station is an operating agency of the Landshut-Plattling railway . It is located in the Lower Bavarian town of Landau on the Isar . The listed entrance building was built around 1875 according to plans by Karl Zenger .

location

The station is at route km 45.3 on the single-track , electrified main line Landshut – Plattling (route number 5634). The single-track, non-electrified branch line Landau – Arnstorf (route number 5640) branched off to the east of the station and began in Landau at route km 0.0. The station has three tracks, two of which are platform tracks .

The train station is located around 1.5 kilometers north of Landau city center on the left side of the Isar . The station building has the address Bahnhofstrasse 31 . It is classified as an architectural monument by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation . The stately, three-part bare brick building with house integration includes a single-storey reception hall, which is flanked by two two-storey corner buildings with flat hipped roofs . On the track side of the station building there is a platform hall on cast iron pillars.

The station area begins in the kilometer direction just before the Straubinger Straße level crossing and ends at the level of the Einhell company premises . The station is bounded in the south by Bahnhofstrasse and the adjacent buildings, in the north by Lindenstrasse.

history

Originally, the Actiengesellschaft der Bavarian Eastern Railways planned to expand Landau into a railway hub in Lower Bavaria . Therefore, on the occasion of the opening of the railway line from Mühldorf to Plattling around 1875, a stately reception building was built. The connecting line from Landshut to Pilsting , which, in contrast to the connection from Mühldorf to Pilsting, is still in operation today, was opened on May 15, 1880.

Soon after the nationalization of the Eastern Railways in 1876, it turned out that instead of Landau, Plattling was to be expanded into a railway junction. With the opening of the local railway to Arnstorf (with a branch line via Eichendorf to Kröhstorf ), Landau became a separation station on December 29, 1903 . Passenger traffic was carried out on the branch line until 1964 and freight traffic until 1993 . On May 28, 1994, the Landau – Arnstorf branch line was shut down . Since then, Landau is again an intermediate station on the route between Landshut and Plattling; the line from Frontenhausen - Marklkofen to Pilsting was closed in 1969.

The former station building has been privately owned since January 1, 2012.

Infrastructure

The station has three tracks , two of which are on a 303 meter long central platform . The platform edges are 38 centimeters above the top edge of the rails . Only platform 3 is regularly used for passenger traffic; the train crossings on the single-track line between Landshut and Plattling usually take place in Wörth (Isar) today . Access to the island platform is via a level crossing over track 2, which is no longer used regularly. The station is therefore considered to be barrier-free .

Track 4 has no edge of the platform . Track 1, which served to connect the Landau – Arnstorf branch line, has since been dismantled. However, the numbering of the remaining tracks was not changed. The station has digital displays . The station building has been preserved to this day, but is no longer accessible to passengers.

The Landau (Isar) station is a relay interlocking of the standard type Sp Dr S60 from Siemens equipped.

traffic

Landau (Isar) train station is served every hour by the trains of the Donau-Isar-Express , which connects Munich to Passau via Landshut and Plattling .
