history

Until the church is planted

Predecessor settlements in and around the place have existed since the Neolithic. The discovery of the disc fibula from Peigen dates back to the 6th century AD . In 889 Pilsting was mentioned in a document as "ad Pilistingon" as the property of the Counts of Frontenhausen. The town of Pilsting was set on fire in 1237 by the Burgvogt in Landau and plundered. In the peace treaty of May 5, 1237, Duke Otto had to undertake to compensate Bishop Siegfried von Regensburg for the destruction of Pilsting and no longer block the thoroughfare. Pilsting was sold as a market (since 1380) including the associated possessions, rights and privileges in 1386 by the Regensburg monastery to the Bavarian dukes. The Thirty Years' War and, above all, the fire in 1789 devastated the place, which at that time belonged to the Landshut Rent Office and the Teisbach Regional Court of the Electorate of Bavaria . In 1812 a post office was built. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

The formerly independent communities Ganacker (partially) and Waibling were incorporated into Markt Pilsting on January 1, 1972 with the municipal area reform. Großköllnbach followed on January 1, 1978.

Leonhardikirche: Chain church in Ganacker

The late Gothic parish church of the Assumption in Pilsting dates from the 15th century and was completed in 1491, but the previous building dates back to the 13th century. In the course of time the church has been redesigned several times.

Also worth seeing is the originally late Gothic cemetery chapel, which was converted to Baroque style from 1720 to 1730.

The Wieskapelle Zum Scourged Heiland outside the market was built around 1648 and was rebuilt in the 18th century.

400 meters after exit 19 of the BAB 92 in the direction of Landau, after 400 meters on the left of the B 20 , you can see a small chapel, the homecoming chapel for Mother of God in the Moos . It is a new building from 1994 after the chapel, originally built in 1954 by a war returnees, had become dilapidated.

Pilsting also has a listed market square.

In Ganacker there is a Leonhardikirche, which is remarkable as a chain church .

There are a number of medium-sized handicrafts and businesses (clothing, wood and iron processing) on site. The place is known for the Goggomobil : In 1946, Friedrich Hahn built a metalworking company on the western outskirts, which in 1951 was transferred to the Isaria machine factory owned by Hans Glas. In the same year the motor scooter came on the market under the name Goggo and in 1954 a small car, the Goggomobil. Later it was taken over by BMW and the Eicher tractor works. From 1973 to 2009 Neoplan buses were built on this site , and in 2009 bus production was taken over by Viseon .

For a long time this was only used for operational purposes on the Landshut – Plattling railway line ( train crossings ) and has now been completely dismantled; the next stations used for passenger and freight traffic are in Landau an der Isar or Dingolfing.
