Joseph Zenger

Joseph Zenger (born December 16, 1757 in Straubing , † December 22, 1827 in Passau ) was a Catholic clergyman and from 1821 cathedral chapter in Passau.

Zenger studied theology at the University of Ingolstadt and was ordained a priest on September 19, 1781. From 1792 he worked as a teacher at the Lyceum in Regensburg . In 1797 he moved to the parish in Kirchroth and in 1815 took over the parish in Reissing near Pilsting. On December 1, 1821, he was appointed cathedral capitular at St. Stephen's Cathedral in Passau.

As a representative of the Lower Danube District, Zenger was a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Deputies from 1819 to 1822 . He was considered a Catholic conservative and refused to take the constitutional oath on the instructions of Pope Pius VII .
