Karl von Hammacher , originally Carl Fritz Ludwig Julius Hammacher (born November 4, 1852 in Mülheim an der Ruhr , † April 7, 1936 in Aachen ) was a German administrative lawyer and police officer.

Life

Karl Hammacher was the son of Friedrich Hammacher, a member of the Reichstag . He studied law at the universities of Heidelberg , Jena and Berlin. In Heidelberg he became a member of the Corps Suevia Heidelberg in 1874 . After passing his exams, he entered the Prussian administrative service and in 1883 became a government assessor in Düsseldorf. In 1887 he was appointed district administrator in the Ruhrort district. In 1899 Hammacher became police chief in Schöneberg , and in 1903 he was transferred to Aachen as police chief . In this position he received the Order of the Crown III in autumn 1905 . Class. In addition, Hammacher was raised to the nobility with a diploma on July 29, 1908 .

On January 1, 1920 he was retired; his successor in Aachen was Friedrich von Korff .

Hammacher was last Rittmeister of the reserve a. D. in the Thuringian Uhlan Regiment No. 6 . He was a member of Club Aachener Casino . Karl von Hammacher found his final resting place in the family crypt in the Aachen forest cemetery .
