Karl Friedrich August Albrecht von Oertzen , also Carl Friedrich August Albrecht von Oertzen (born March 24, 1816 in Neustrelitz , † May 15, 1893 in Kotelow ) was a Mecklenburg manor owner, chamberlain, district administrator and member of the Reichstag.

origin

Karl von Oertzen (no. 417 of the gender census ) came from the noble family Oertzen , which is counted as an ancient nobility in Mecklenburg . He was born the second child and eldest son of the landowner and district administrator Carl von Oertzen (1788–1837; # 391) and his wife Wilhelmine (1792–1875), daughter of the Privy Council and Chamber President of Mecklenburg-Strelitz , Ulrich Otto III. von Dewitz (1747-1808; # 447). His brothers Heinrich von Oertzen as a member of the Reichstag and Georg von Oertzen (1829-1910) as a diplomat and poet were particularly well known from his close family circle.

Life

He attended the High School Carolinum (Neustrelitz) and studied 1835-1839 jurisprudence at the Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg , the Georg-August-University of Goettingen and the Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Berlin . In 1836 he became a member of the Corps Vandalia Göttingen. Then he was initially an auditor in the Neustrelitz law firm before devoting himself to the administration of his Kotelow estate . Since 1853 he was a member of the select committee of knighthood and landscape in Rostock . Later he was the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitzscher Chamberlain and from 1879-1888 District Administrator of the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Güstrow and as such a member of the Select Committee.

In August 1867 he was elected to the Reichstag of the North German Confederation as a member of the constituency of Mecklenburg-Strelitz . In October of the same year the mandate was declared invalid. He belonged to the Conservative Party .

Karl von Oertzen had been married to Bertha Adelheid von Berlepsch (1819–1896) since 1841 and had nine children, five of whom died in childhood.
