Heinrich von Oertzen

Heinrich Karl Adolf Friedrich Otto von Oertzen , with the addition of the ownership name also von Oertzen-Brunn (born December 30, 1820 in Brunn (Mecklenburg) ; † January 1, 1897 ibid) was a large landowner and member of the Reichstag in Mecklenburg-Strelitz.

Heinrich von Oertzen was a younger son of the landowner and district administrator Carl von Oertzen (1788–1837; No. 391 of the gender census ) and Wilhelmine von Dewitz (1792–1875; No. 500 of the gender census). Karl von Oertzen and Georg von Oertzen were his brothers.

Life

He was born in the south-east Mecklenburg village of Brunn . In 1836 he attended the Pedagogy of the Francke Foundations in Halle and from 1837 the Katharineum in Lübeck . From 1841 he studied law at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin , later at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and the University of Rostock . In 1844 he became a member of the Corps Vandalia Rostock . In 1845 he passed the first state examination. He was employed by the law firm in Neustrelitz and in 1846 at the office and district court in Stargard . In 1847 he took over the Brunn fiefdom from his father's inheritance. He left the civil service and devoted himself entirely to agriculture.

In 1854 he was appointed Grand Ducal Mecklenburg-Strelitz Chamberlain and was (as the owner of Brunn) from 1853 to 1890 a member of the Mecklenburg State Parliament. During this time he was also director of the agricultural association for Mecklenburg-Strelitz for four years, as well as deputy and district director of the knightly credit association. In 1872 von Oertzen was one of the founding fathers of the Neubrandenburg Museum Association, from which the Regional Museum Neubrandenburg emerged . In 1880 he became a member of the Grand Ducal Court for the decision of conflicts of jurisdiction in Rostock .

From 1884 he sat for the German Conservative Party and the constituency of the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz 1 Neustrelitz, Neubrandenburg , Schönberg in the German Reichstag . He resigned this mandate on January 10, 1892.

Oertzen had been married to Luise von Berlepsch since 1847, with whom he had four children. After her death, he married Johanna Boccius in 1882.
