Karl von der Recke (Colonel)
Karl von der Recke was a Prussian colonel and chief of Garrison Regiment No. 8 .
Life
origin
His parents were the imperial baron Diederich XXXVII von der Recke (* 1639; † May 11, 1710) from the house of Uentrop and his wife Anna Magdalena, born Freiin von Baer . His sister Anna Maria Wilhelmine Sophie (born January 4, 1692) was married to the Prussian Major General Martin Arend von Dockum .
Military career
Recke went into Prussian service and came into the "von Schwerin" infantry regiment . There he took his leave in 1728 because of illness . It must have got better then , because he then went into service in the Electorate of Cologne , became a Knight of St. John in 1735, but later also said goodbye here. In the run-up to the First Silesian War, Recke recruited a battalion in the empire in 1741 , which he led to Prussia. He was promoted to colonel and a further battalion from the Prussian King Friedrich II , which formed garrison regiment No. 8. In 1745 he received the requested farewell.
family
He was married to Sophie Luise von Voss . She was the daughter of the Prussian Lieutenant Colonel Johann Georg von Voss from the Rodenberg family and his wife Sophie von Alheim widowed von Borstel. The couple had a daughter.
