He realized art and construction projects a. a. 1995 in Radolfzell (wall relief, steel, 780/110/5 cm) and 2005 in Karlsruhe (Lineamento Verticale, steel sculpture, height 18 m). In 1991 he and the artist Michaela Kölmel realized a room installation on the subject of light at the invitation of the ZKM Karlsruhe as part of MultiMediale 2. In 1994/95 Karlheinz Bux taught drawing as a lecturer at the Pforzheim University , and in 2007/08 as a visiting professor at the Mainz University of Applied Sciences. He has received several prizes and awards, including the 2007 City of Bühl Art Prize for drawing and the City of Schramberg Art Prize in 2015. In 2010 he was awarded the Forum Art Prize of the Karlsruhe Regional Council.

The artist's works are in museum and private collections, among others. a. owned by the Kunsthalle Karlsruhe and the Würth Collection .

The central pictorial medium in Karlheinz Bux's artistic work is the line. In the partly monumental sculptural works, pulsating lines predominantly emphasize the vertical. Clarity, complexity and symbolism determine the steel, bronze and wood steles and wall reliefs. The drawing work is preferably carried out on transparent materials such as glass and foil. The basis of the foil and glass works are photo templates that are transformed by overlaying and linear processing. The result is a multi-layered visual reality that allows numerous interpretations.
