Karlheinz Pfaff (politician)

Karlheinz Pfaff (born May 5, 1926 in Oberursel ; † February 4, 2015 there ) was a German politician (SPD). He was mayor of his hometown Oberursel for six years .

Life

In 1941 he began training with the city of Oberursel. From 1944 he served in the Wehrmacht . After his release from captivity on May 24, 1946, he worked again as an employee of the city of Oberursel.

1960 to 1972 he was the first alderman of Oberursel. On November 19, 1971, the city council elected him mayor. During his tenure, the town hall and the indoor swimming pool were built and the House of Youth was opened. The city grew through the incorporation of Stierstadt , Weißkirchen and Oberstedten . In the local elections in Hessen in 1977 , the CDU in Oberursel won almost 49% of the vote. In 1978 Pfaff was therefore not re-elected and Rudolf Harders was his successor.

For many years he was chairman of the Federation for Popular Education and chairman of the Oberursel housing cooperative. He was married twice and had children.

Awards

Pfaff became an honorary citizen of Epinay-sur-Seine , the twin town of Oberursel. In 1974 he received the partnership plaque, in 1978 the plaque of honor of the city of Oberursel. In 1999 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
