Hans-Georg Brum (* 1955 in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and has been mayor of the city of Oberursel in the Hochtaunus district since 2003 .

Brum grew up in today's Oberursel district of Stierstadt . In 1975 he graduated from the Feldberg School. He then studied economics and sociology in Frankfurt am Main and graduated in 1983 with a degree in economics. From 1986 to 2003 he worked as a project and product manager at Commerzbank .

Brum is the father of two children.

Brum was a city councilor in Oberursel from 1981 to 2003, and from 1992 to 1995 also chairman of the SPD parliamentary group.

Since October 2003, Brum has succeeded Gerd Krämer ( CDU ), who became State Secretary in Wiesbaden , and has been the mayor of Oberursel. After no candidate could achieve the necessary majority in the mayoral election on July 6, 2003, Brum prevailed in the runoff election on July 20 with 61.6% of the votes cast against his opponent from the CDU, Thorsten Schorr.

He was re-elected for a further 6 years on June 7, 2009 with 73.4% of the votes cast.

On June 21, 2015, Brum was re-elected for the second time. He prevailed again against Thorsten Schorr (CDU) with 63% of the vote.
