Karol Jabłoński

Karol Jabłoński (born August 25, 1962 in Giżycko ) is a German-Polish sailing enthusiast.

Life

Jabłoński grew up in Poland and started sailing when he was young. When he was denied participation in the Olympics despite numerous successes, he emigrated to Germany in 1986. He initially had to finance his living with part-time jobs and trained on the Steinhuder Meer . In 1993 he won the Admiral's Cup with Germany . From 1992 he was also eleven times world champion, four times vice world champion and eight times European champion in ice sailing . He was the helmsman in very successful German sailing projects such as Container , Pinta and Thomas-i-Punkt . After his America's Cup campaign Polska 1 had failed, he started as a helmsman on Desafío Español in 2005 . He led the team to the semi-finals at the America's Cup . He was then signed to the United Internet Team Germany as a skipper. After it was dissolved in 2008, he successfully sailed as a tactician on German super maxi yachts such as Y3K , Saudade and Hetairos . Among the professional sailors, he is recognized not only as a talented helmsman and tactician, but also as a manager of international sailing projects. He is the chairman of the Olsztyn Sailing Club.
