Maxi yacht
A maxi yacht is a large, sporty sailing yacht with a boat length of 70 feet (approx. 21 m).
Maxi yachts are usually individual builds / custom-made products and tailored to the wishes of the owner by the yacht designer; Well-known designers are Olin Stephens from the Sparkman & Stephens design office , Bruce Farr , German Frers and Ron Holland . A maxi yacht is designed either for sporty regattas or for longer trips with passengers. Maxi yachts should not be confused with Maxi Yachts , a Swedish manufacturer of cruising yachts .
The watch manufacturer and sponsor Rolex is organizing a regatta series for maxi yachts, the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup .
A special sailing class is located above the maxi yachts, the super maxi class. These sailing yachts have an overall length (Lüa) of over 100 feet.
