The 85-foot maxi yacht UCA was specially designed for participation in the DaimlerChrysler North Atlantic Challenge 2003 .

history

The previous model of the UCA, a 20-meter yacht of the same name, no longer met the requirements of a modern yacht design and was therefore no longer suitable for participation in relevant regattas . The owner Klaus Murmann from Kiel commissioned the construction office Judel / Vrolijk & Co. from Bremerhaven with the new boat design. After completing this phase, boatyard Knierim in Laboe built this Maxi Racer - racing yachts of this size, almost exclusively for regattas - in 212 days. The new 26 meters (85 feet) long UCA is specially designed for the weather and sea conditions of the North Atlantic . The hull and deck consist of a sandwich with top layers made of epoxy resin reinforced with carbon fibers and a rigid foam core. In the IRC system it has a racing value of 1.551.

Regatta successes

At the DaimlerChrysler North Atlantic Challenge 2003, the yacht was the fastest with a time of 13 days, 7 hours, 13 minutes.
In 2005, the boat achieved the fastest time of 17 hours 14 minutes, 39 seconds (at the Mallorca round counterclockwise Four Stripes Challenge awarded by the Royal Yacht Club . The record goes for the crew that in the five days before or after Palma Vela regatta undercut the existing best time.)
At the Pantaenius Rund Skagen Race 2006 it was the first ship home .
