The Mirabella V , after converting the stern to carry a seaplane, M5 in 2009 at the earliest and 2015 at the latest , is the largest single-masted sailing yacht in the world.

The slup-rigged ship - with an original mast height of 91.44 m, with an overall length of 75.20 m - was constructed by Ron Holland , and the interior design also comes from his company. The facility itself was carried out by Struik & Hamerslag and Ashbourne Interiors. The client of this super maxi yacht , which was built by Vosper Thornycroft's shipyard in Southampton ( England ), was the multimillionaire Joseph Vittoria ( Avis Rent A Car ). Due to the height of the mast, the Mirabella V cannot call at many ports, as almost no bridge offers the necessary passage height . Draft and length also cause problems for the yacht, as many marinas are not designed for these ship sizes. One of the owner's specifications was to be able to call at the port of Palm Beach in Florida, which among other things led to the yacht being equipped with a lifting keel so that the draft can be reduced to 4 m. As a result of its length, the ship can reach a theoretical hull speed of over 20 knots .

After an accident on September 16, 2004 at Cap Ferrat off the south coast of France, the Maxi-Yacht was repaired in Portsmouth and the mast was shortened to 88.50 meters in order to reduce the effective lateral forces.

The areas of the charter yacht were the Mediterranean and the Caribbean .

At the end of April 2012, the 43 t mast was accepted.

In 2012 or 2013 there was a change of owner from Vittoria to Rodney Ray Lewis , CEO of Lewis Energy, an oil and gas drilling company in Texas, USA.

The modernization of the rigging - carbon fiber epoxy strands replaced steel cables, fittings made of titanium were installed, tubes of the three sail furling systems made of aluminum were replaced by those made of carbon fiber - saves 14 tons of weight. The stern is converted to accommodate a seaplane, the interior is renewed. The ship is renamed to M5.

For this purpose, the 43 t mast will be accepted at the end of April.

In October 2017 the yacht was on a trip around the world and was due to maintenance work in the port of Cape Town.
