Karol Kisel (born March 15, 1977 in Košice , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak football player .
Career
Karol Kisel began playing football at Lokomotíva Košice , where he made the league squad in 1996. After the relegation of Lokomotíva, the midfielder moved to Ozeta Dukla Trenčín , where he spent a year and a half before moving to the Czech league for Bohemians Prague . His fighting spirit and commitment quickly made him popular with the Prague public, and Kisel became captain of the Bohemians.
However, he could not prevent relegation in 2003 and then moved to Slovan Liberec , where he was named the best foreign player in the 2004/05 season . In the summer of 2005 he was available for a free transfer after the contract expired, Zenit St. Petersburg showed interest, and finally Kisel moved to Sparta Prague.
Karol Kisel made his debut in the Slovak national team on April 29, 2002 in a 1-0 win against Japan in Tokyo . His only goal to date was scored by Kisel on June 8, 2005 in a 4-0 win over Luxembourg .
In the summer of 2009 Kisel moved to the Australian club Sydney FC , where he will play under his former coach at Liberec and Prague, Vítězslav Lavička . Kisel was a regular at Sydney throughout the season and won the 2009/10 championship with the club through a 4-2 win on penalties against Melbourne Victory . After he was only offered a contract on reduced terms for the following season, he left the club at the end of the season. In June 2010, the Slovak joined the Czech top club Slavia Prague. With the club from Prague , Kisel made 27 appearances in the 2004/05 season before the midfielder moved back to Sydney, where he initially signed for a year.
