Karoline Knoth

Karoline Knoth (born May 26, 1964 in Bad Mergentheim ) is a German ethnologist in Meursault and author of various books on the culture of wine in Burgundy (wine region) . Since April 2019 Karoline Knoth has also been a lecturer at the "Ecole des Vins de Bourgogne" wine school of the BIVB Interprofession in Beaune.

Career

From 1983 to 1990 she studied European ethnology , history, and art history at the Universities of Würzburg and Freiburg / Breisgau. As a research assistant to Prof. Wolfgang Brückner , she completed her studies with a Master of European Ethnology .

After some voluntary work, in particular in open air museums in the Fränkisches Freilandmuseum Bad Windsheim and the Odenwälder Freilandmuseum Gottersdorf and monument preservation at the University of Bamberg as a research assistant to Prof. Achim Hubel , she became director of the Henneberg Museum in Münnerstadt in 1991 and was also responsible for the "Münnerstädter Kulturtage". From 1999 she was the deputy district homeworker in Lower Franconia and at the same time director of the Aschach Castle Museum . In 2001 she moved to the Ganshorn company (Medizin Elektronik GmbH) where she was assistant to the management, product manager and head of international sales.

Move to France

In 2011 she moved to Meursault , France. She studied "Wine, Culture and Wine Tourism" at the University of Burgundy in Dijon and graduated in 2014 with a university diploma. During this time she also began to publish scientific books in French. In 2013 she received the "Carte Professionnelle de Guide Conférencier" (license as a state-certified tour guide). In 2014 she founded the company "La Bourgogne à vos Pieds" and has since worked as a tourist guide, translator and author. She is partner of both the "Office de Tourisme Intercommunal de Beaune" and the " Hôtel-Dieu " of the Hospices de Beaune.

During this time she prepared the scientific work for the exhibition and book project "Allons en Vendanges. Meursault dans les années 50 à travers les cartes postales de Maurice Collin", an exhibition that was subsequently held in the Musée du Vin of Beaune and in the Geisenheim University (Rheingau) was shown. In 2016/17 she obtained the university diploma "Terroir et Dégustation" with the grade very good. Her diploma thesis was published in the "Cahiers du CHVV" series. This was followed by the scientific evaluation of the archive fund of André Lagrange (City Archives of Beaune) at the level of the village of Meursault with exhibition and publications, as well as several lectures Musée du Vin de Beaune, at the Académie des sciences, arts et belles lettres (Academy of Sciences) from Dijon.

For the book Moi, je suis Vigneron à Meursault , published in 2019 . Une enquête d'Andrè Lagrange, she was able to win over the famous winemaker and co-owner of the world-famous Domaine de la Romanée-Conti winery in Burgundy , Aubert de Villaine , for the foreword.

Honor

  • Special award of the Association des Climats de Bourgogne 2014 for the exhibition and the book "Allons en vendanges-Meursault dans les années 50"
  • Since 2017, the Association des Climats de Bourgogne has been awarded an annual special prize for organizing the "Meursault sous toutes les coutures" study day on the history of wine in Meursault and Burgundy.
