Karsten Kiilerich

Karsten Kiilerich (born January 21, 1955 in Slagelse ) is a Danish director, screenwriter and animator .

Life

Kiilerich initially worked as a teacher before joining the crew of the Danish animated film Walhalla as an animator in 1983 , which was released in 1986. In 1988 he founded the animation studio A. Film with the Walhalla co-animators Hans Perk , Jørgen Lerdam and Stefan Fjeldmark as well as producer Anders Mastrup , where he has been working ever since. At A. Film he was, among other things, animator of the films Eventyret om den vidunderlige musik (1990) and Meister Dachs und seine Freunde (1993).

Kiilerich shot the short animation film Når livet går sin vej with Stefan Fjeldmark at A. Film , which took real interview recordings from pupils at Skolen i Charlottegården in Copenhagen as the basis for the animation, which is similar to children's drawings. For Når livet går sin vej he was nominated in 1999 for an Oscar in the category Best Animated Short Film. With Fjeldmark, Kiilerich also wrote the screenplay for the Danish animated film Help! I am a fish who has also enjoyed international success and was awarded the jury prize at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival, among others . Kiilerich's feature film directorial debut was The Ugly Duckling & I , which emerged from the Danish animated film series of the same name, in which Kiilerich was also involved as a director. His short animation film What do you think about rich and poor? , which ran in the show with the mouse , was the opening film of the 2008 children's film festival Goldener Spatz 2008 .
