Karungi ( Finnish Karunki ) is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Norrbotten County and the historical province of Norrbotten .
The place in the municipality of Haparanda formed a joint municipality with the Finnish Karunki until the new border was drawn with the Treaty of Fredrikshamn between Sweden and Russia in 1809 . The two places are separated by the Torne älv river .
Karungi was on the old Haparanda Railway and was the beginning of the Karungi – Övertorneå railway line .
