The Karvianjoki is a river and river system in southwest Finland . Its catchment area extends mainly over the north of the Satakunta landscape .
It has its origin in Lake Karvianjärvi in the northeast of Satakunta. From there it flows in southern and western directions. It flows through the lakes Kirkkojärvi , Kynäsjärvi , Inhottujärvi and Isojärvi . In Inhottujärvi and Isojärvi, a small estuary leaves the lake in a southerly direction.
The main arm between these two lakes is the Pomarkunjoki , below the Isojärvi the Merikarvianjoki , which flows south of Merikarvia into the Baltic Sea. The southernmost estuary has the names Oravajoki , Noormarkunjoki and Eteläjoki and flows past Noormarkku .
The middle branch of the estuary, which flows out of the Isojärvi, bears the names Salmusoja , Poosjoki and Pohjajoki . It flows through the lake Poosjärvi .
The total length of the river is about 110 km. The catchment area of the river system covers 3438 km². In the Inhottujärvi flows coming from the southeast of Lassilanjoki which the lake Karhijärvi drained.
