The Karwendel-Werke Huber GmbH & Co. KG is a German food company , one of the largest family-owned dairy company in Germany and a total of about 30 among German dairy processors to rank business is the development, production and distribution of cheese , cream cheese , fresh dairy products, skimmed milk - and whey powder .
history
The company was founded in 1909 by Franz Xaver Huber in Wessobrunn , four years later the company moved to Oberdießen near Landsberg . The company has been based in Buchloe since 1926 .
While the product range used to focus on natural, soft and processed cheese, the company has been specializing in cream cheese and quark products since the early 1990s , with a comparatively extensive range of low-fat products.
Companies
Annual sales are € 424 million (as of 2019) and around 520 people are employed. The main sales market is Germany, around 37% of the products are exported. Around 261 million liters of milk from 668 delivery companies are processed every year (as of 2020).
With a market share of over 20% in the branded business, the company is number 2 in Germany behind Kraft Foods ' Philadelphia from Kraft Foods , for branded fruit quark in some areas (500 g cups) with almost 50% share, and for quark products overall number 5 ( Danone is the market leader here ). In addition to the factory in Buchloe, the group includes subsidiaries in Italy, Austria, Poland and Romania. Since 2001, Wilfried Huber, the founder's grandson, has been the sole managing partner of Karwendel-Werke.
