Kaspar Bienemann (born January 3, 1540 in Nuremberg , † September 12, 1591 in Altenburg ; also Melissander ) was a German theologian and poet.
Life
As a strictly Lutheran pastor, Bienemann was involved in the theological struggle for positions of his time. He was general superintendent of Pfalz-Neuburg and prince educator in Weimar . In 1578 he became general superintendent of Altenburg.
His song Herr, wie du will (s) t, so schick's mit mir can still be found today in the Evangelical Hymnal (EG 367). Johann Sebastian Bach used his first stanza in 1724 for his cantata Herr, wie du willt, so schicks mit mir, BWV 73 , on the 3rd Sunday after Epiphany .
