Johann Kaspar Anton Maria Georg Gebhard von Preysing-Lichtenegg-Moos (born April 8, 1844 in Moos , † August 4, 1897 in Kronwinkl ) was the owner of the Fideikommiss and a member of the German Reichstag .

Life

He was born the son of Maximilian Graf von Preysing (1810–1881) and his wife Anna von Waldburg-Zeil (1821–1849). His mother's brother was the well-known Jesuit and preacher Georg Ferdinand von Waldburg-Zeil (1823–1866); at the same time she was a cousin of the Mainz bishop Wilhelm Emmanuel von Ketteler (1811–1877).

Kaspar von Preysing lived as a Fideikommiss owner at Kronwinkl Castle near Landshut . As Premier Lieutenant of the 1st Bavarian Cuirassier Regiment and Regimental Adjutant, he participated in the war against Prussia in 1866 and as an orderly officer in the Corps staff of the Bavarian Army Corps in the war against France in 1870/71 . He received his departure from the army as Rittmeister.

Preysing was the Royal Bavarian Chamberlain and Knight of the Bavarian House Knights Order of St. George . In 1876 he married Hedwig Maria Ida von Walterskirchen , with whom he had 11 children. Three sons became priests, one of whom was the well-known Nazi opponent Cardinal Konrad Graf von Preysing .

From July 1882 to 1890 Kaspar von Preysing sat as a member of the center in the German Reichstag, where he represented the constituency of Landshut . In 1882 he won a by-election for the resigned MP Karl von Ow . His brother Conrad von Preysing (1843–1903) was also a member of the Reichstag, godfather of the future cardinal and had excellent contacts with the Bavarian royal family, into which his son even married.

From 1887 until his death in 1897, Kaspar von Preysing served as chairman of the Horse Breeding Association of Lower Bavaria .
