The Kasseler Sezession , also known as Kassel Secession , was an expressionist , avant-garde , progressive group of artists in Kassel .

history

The Kassel Secession emerged from the Kassel painter group founded in 1923 and the Kassel artist group Die five . The Kassel Secession was founded in 1927 by 16 artists, most of whom came from Kassel. Some members came from Munich and Berlin . In 1927 she protested against the fact that the exhibition of the Kassel Art Academy in the orangery was not included in the 150th anniversary celebration with a counter exhibition in the Kassel Art Association . The anniversary exhibition showed works from Rococo to Surrealism , Kassel art and German art up to the present day, but no avant-garde art from Kassel. The group of protesting Kassel Secession included August Anhalt , Christian Beyer , Arnold Bode , Heinrich Dersch , Otto Julius Fleck , Max Kneisel , Karl Leyhausen , Johannes Reinhold , Fritz Schneider , Hilde Schröder , Lola Schwarzenberg , Wolfgang Schwarzkopf and Fritz H. Wachsmuth . In 1929 Arnold Bode was appointed to the Great Art Exhibition. In 1930 the Kassel Secession dissolved. After the Second World War, the group was re-established in 1946 as the Hessian Secession around Arnold Bode, Bernhard Delsing , Carl Döbel and Ernst Röttger , but it was finally dissolved in 1948 due to disagreements.
