Ernst Röttger

Ernst Röttger (born April 19, 1899 in Kassel ; † July 21, 1967 there ) was an informal German painter , university teacher and art teacher .

education

Röttger studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Kassel and at the Kunstgewerbeschule Nürnberg . In 1939 he was appointed to the Kassel Art Academy . In 1947 he was appointed professor for basic courses with Hermann Mattern , Hans Leistikow , Arnold Bode , Stephan Hirzel and Heinrich Lauterbach at the re-established Staatliche Werkakademie in Kassel. He was the head of the puppet studio and head of the woodworking workshop . In 1946 he was one of the founding members of the Hessian Secession around Arnold Bode.

Ernst Röttger's father was the brother-in-law of the bookseller Fritz Lometsch .

In the Kassel documenta urbana , a street was named after Ernst Röttger.
