Kasugamycin is an aminoglycoside - antibiotic , consisting of Streptomyces kasugaensis was isolated. Kasugamycin works by inhibiting the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes and thus protein biosynthesis . It was found in 1965 by Hamao Umezawa , who also discovered kanamycin and bleomycin .

Kasugamycin

use

Kasugamycin is used in rice, potato, pepper and tomato growing. It is used to combat Erwinia atroseptica and Cladosporium fulvum in tomato cultivation and Xanthomonas campestris pv. Vesicatoria in tomato and paprika cultivation. The compound has strong preventive effects on Pyricularia oryzae .
