Katarina Beskow

Katarina Beskow (actually Anna Catharina Beskow ; born February 2, 1867 in Stockholm , † probably August 11 or 12, 1939 in Salzburg ) was a Swedish chess player .

She took part in four women's world chess championships : in London in 1927 she came second out of twelve participants, in 1930 in Hamburg and in 1931 she was fourth of five places in Hamburg and in 1937 in Stockholm with 5.5 points from 14 games, 23rd place. Place for 26 participants. In a simultaneous performance in 1914 Beskow reached a draw against the eventual world champion Alexander Alekhine .

She was employed by Statens Järnvägar until her retirement .
