Katarzyna Maria Piekarska (born September 23, 1967 in Warsaw ) is a Polish politician , from 1993 to 2007 she was a member of the Sejm in the second, third, fourth and fifth electoral periods.

In 1986 she graduated from the Stefan Batory Lyceum in Warsaw, after which she studied at the Faculty of Law and Administrative Sciences at the University of Warsaw and became a legal advisor .

She became a member of the Unia Demokratyczna (Democratic Union - UD) list for the first time in 1993 . In the course of the electoral term, at the instigation of Leszek Miller , she moved from the Unia Wolności (Freedom Union - UW) to Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej (Federation of the Democratic Left - SLD). In 1997 she was Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Interior and Administration.

In 1997, 2001 and 2005 she won a member of parliament for the SLD in the Warsaw constituency. In the Sejm of the fourth electoral term, she was chairman of the Commission for Justice and Human Rights. From March 6, 2004 to June 2005, she was Deputy Chairwoman of the SLD. In the 2005 presidential election, she headed the election staff for candidate Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz . In the early parliamentary elections in 2007 , she ran unsuccessfully for re-election as a member of the Lewica i Demokraci (Left and Democrats - LiD) list. In May 2008 she became chairwoman of the SLD in the Masovian Voivodeship , in 2012 she lost the re-election to Włodzimierz Czarzasty . In 2008 she was also elected deputy chairwoman of the SLD at state level.

She is the chairman of the Association of Young Women in Politics and was the vice-chairman of the Polish Red Cross.

In the parliamentary elections on October 13, 2019, she was elected Sejm member of the 9th legislative period.

Private

She was the wife of Leszek Kwiatek (the former General Director of the Polish Post Office) and has a son.
