Kateryna Babkina published her first volume of poems while she was still a student. This was followed by stories and poems in various Ukrainian magazines, which were later published as volumes of poetry and essays, and in 2013 a first novel, “ Sonja ”. Poems have already been translated into Polish, Russian, German, English, French and Swedish. Babkina belongs to the generation of authors like Iryna Slavinska or Andrij Ljubka , who grew up, lives and writes without the experiences of the previous Soviet Union or comparison with its everyday life. Like other Ukrainian authors, she drew on numerous travels and encounters. The texts of the lively and committed young writer are often marked by melancholy and irony and occasionally with a touch of early bitterness. In 2017 her translation of Meik Wiking's book "Hygge - an attitude to life that simply makes you happy" was published in Kharkiv.

In 2012 she realized “Ukraine goodbye” under the title “Das Böse” as part of the larger cinema project for young artists. Her second short film "The Yellow Box" from 2013 was initially banned from public performance because of its anarchist political statement, the liquidation of newly rich criminal entrepreneurs.
