Harald Frowein

Walter Harald Frowein (born August 3, 1900 in Elberfeld ; † October 29, 1978 in Wuppertal ) was a German textile entrepreneur and president of the Wuppertal Chamber of Commerce and Industry .

Live and act

Frowein comes from a family that has been in Lennep since 1500 and in Elberfeld since 1600. He, a nephew of Abraham Frowein (1878–1957), was born to Walter Abraham Frowein (1875–1955) and Elisabeth Lohmann (1880–1940). He married Hildegard Bürhaus (1904–1949) in Mehlem in 1926 , and through the marriage came to the Villa Buchenhof in Bonn, which was used as a summer house. In 1951 he married the painter Trautel Schreyögg (1907–2007) from Munich for the second time .

Frowein was a board member of the silk weaving mill Frowein & Co. AG . He not only used his extensive economic experience for his own company, but also benefited many areas of the economy by taking on numerous honorary positions.

In 1964 Frowein became President of the Wuppertal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, succeeding Max Kretschmann . He held this office until 1970, when he was succeeded by Walter Salzer as President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He was particularly committed to the medium-sized economy in the Bergisch area.
