Friedhelm Sträter

Friedhelm Sträter (* 1950 in Solingen ) is a German entrepreneur and from 1997 to 2013 President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Wuppertal-Solingen-Remscheid .

He completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk and in 1968, after the death of his father, took over his father's business, Sträter Stanzerei GmbH in Solingen. Friedhelm Sträter expanded the company by founding or purchasing six more companies; today they are united under the umbrella of Sträter Industrie Holding KG .

Friedhelm Sträter has been a member of the Wuppertal-Solingen-Remscheid Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Bergisch city triangle since 1989 and was appointed its vice-president in 1993, while at the same time holding the position of chairman of the Solingen district committee. In 1997 he was elected President of the Chamber . In 2013 he no longer ran for the election of the president. He was appointed honorary president at the general assembly on May 16, 2013.

Sträter is also involved in other trade associations, for example he is on the board of the Iron, Sheet Metal and Metal Processing Industry Association, Industrieverband Schneidwaren- und Bestecke e. V. and the industry association sheet metal and forming technology.

Honors

The World Organization of Junior Economists (JCI) made him a senator and the Bergische Universität Wuppertal made him an honorary citizen of the university in 2008. On March 1, 2012 he was awarded the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany.
