Friedrich Wachs (born July 18, 1892 in Elberfeld , † December 11, 1963 ) was a German graduate engineer, chemical entrepreneur and president of the Bergische Chamber of Industry and Commerce Wuppertal-Remscheid .

Friedrich Wachs is the son of the merchant Friedrich Wachs, whose ancestors came from Waldeck . He attended the Elberfeld High School from 1899 to 1911 . He then completed a commercial apprenticeship in a Hamburg export business by 1914 . He studied at the Technical University of Dresden from 1919 and obtained a Dipl.-Ing. and received his doctorate in 1921 as Dr.-Ing. In 1920 he married Margarete Klimmer in Dresden . From 1922 he was a partner in the chemical wholesaler Wachs & Asmann in Wuppertal- Barmen , which his grandfather Friedrich Wachs had founded in 1866.

In May 1933, Wachs was elected as a member of the general assembly of the Bergische Chamber of Industry and Commerce Wuppertal-Remscheid (today Chamber of Industry and Commerce Wuppertal-Solingen-Remscheid ) and was appointed President of the Chamber on June 30, 1933 after the resignation of Franz Paul Hager .

During his presidency, Wachs was a member of the advisory board and various committees of the Working Group of Chambers of Industry and Commerce in the Reich Chamber of Commerce and advisory board of the German group of the International Chamber of Commerce . He was also a member of the advisory boards of the Düsseldorf and Cologne chambers of commerce and the Düsseldorf Chamber of Labor. Wachs was also councilor of the city of Wuppertal and a labor judge at the Düsseldorf Regional Labor Court . Wachs had been a member of the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) since 1925, other sources assume that he would join in 1930.

After the transfer of the Bergische Chamber of Industry and Commerce Wuppertal-Remscheid to the Gau Chamber of Commerce in Düsseldorf in March 1943 , he was appointed its vice-president. In 1945 he was arrested by the Allies. a. interned in Wuppertal, Hemer and Eselheide, was finally released in January 1948 after his criminal trial and in the summer of 1948 was classified as a “fellow traveler” before the denazification committee in Wuppertal.
