Friedrich Wilhelm Osterroth

Friedrich Wilhelm Osterroth , b. Blank (born September 20, 1815 in Barmen ; † September 14, 1884 ibid) was a German businessman and alderman in Barmen and 1871-1884 President of the Barmen Chamber of Commerce .

Life

Friedrich Wilhelm Blank was the son of the businessman Friedrich Blank (1783-1859) whose ancestors came from Duisburg and his second wife Sarah nee. Osterroth (1788-1857). Friedrich Blank went bankrupt with a Siamese factory "Schöler & Blank" in 1820 and afterwards did not recover economically. Because of this, Friedrich Wilhelm Blank and his twin brother Friedrich (1815-1889) were adopted on July 17, 1846 by his uncle Wilhelm Osterroth (1782-1859), whose marriage remained childless, and they took the name Osterroth. Wilhelm Osterroth was the owner of the bobbin lace factory “Wm. Osterroth Sons ”. Carl Emil (1817–1893), another brother, went abroad for the time being. Friedrich Wilhelm Osterroth was later a partner in the company "Osterroth & Sohn" in Barmen.

Wilhelm Osterroth, as a deputy of the Barmer merchants' union, helped set up a chamber of commerce for Elberfeld and Barmen and was a member of it until 1834. In addition to Friedrich von Eynern senior , his nephew was involved in setting up his own Barmer Chamber of Commerce . (1805–1882) after his twin brother Friedrich had been a member of the Elberfeld and Barmen Chamber of Commerce from 1851 to 1871.

From July 1 to October 2, 1855 Osterroth was entrusted with the management of the business of the mayor of Barmen.

In the new elections of the Chamber of Commerce in Barmen in 1871, Friedrich Wilhelm Osterroth was elected member of the city administration of Barmens, whose deputy he was electoral commissioner and with all 50 votes cast. In the constituent assembly of the Chamber of Commerce on July 13, 1871, Osterroth was elected President. He held this office until his death, his successor as president was Friedrich von Eynern junior. (1834-1893).

Osterroth was one of the personalities in Barmen, for ten years he was city ​​councilor and 24 years unpaid councilor of the city of Barmen. He was also after the opening of Barmer Commercial Court several years commercial judge and later chairman of the association of manufacturers of tapes, cords and wires.
