Katharina Schenk

Katharina Schenk (born January 23, 1988 in Schkeuditz ) is a German political officer and politician ( SPD ). Since March 2020 she has been State Secretary for Local Affairs in the Thuringian Ministry of the Interior and Local Affairs .

Life

Between September 2007 and June 2010, Schenk completed a bachelor's degree in social sciences , political sciences and philosophy at the universities in Leipzig and Athens . Between September 2010 and June 2012 she completed a master’s degree in philosophy at the University of Leipzig, before taking up a doctorate in political philosophy (doctoral project “The Privatization of Happiness”) as a scholarship holder from the Friedrich Ebert Foundation there in April 2013 .

From March 2013 to July 2017, Schenk worked as an editorial assistant at Philosophy Magazin before becoming the personal advisor to Altenburg's Lord Mayor Michael Wolf in October 2017 . After the end of his term of office, she became City Manager in the economic development of the city of Altenburg in August 2018. She is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany , she was a city ​​councilor in Leipzig and a member of the district council of the Altenburger Land district .
