Katharina Anna Turecek (born December 16, 1982 in Vienna ) is an Austrian author and speaker on applied brain research.

Life

Turecek completed her school career in Vienna. After skipping the 9th grade due to exceptional performance, she graduated from the Bundesgymnasium und Realgymnasium Erlgasse in 2000 . From 2000 to 2005 Turecek studied human medicine at the Medical University of Vienna with semesters abroad and internships in the Netherlands, Denmark and Greenland. From 2006 to 2008 she studied cognitive science at the University of Vienna , the Technical and Economic University of Budapest , Hungary and at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.
After completing her studies, she founded the a-head Institute for Brain Training and, as an author and lecturer, deals with topics from applied brain research such as dementia prevention and brain training, learning and teaching, emotional competence and mental fitness in the digital age.

Turecek was 1,999 youth memory champion and 2001 runner-up memory champion of Austria, finishing at the 2001 World Memory Championships in London the 21th Place
