Katharina Winkler (2016)

Katharina Winkler (born February 3, 1979 in Vienna ) is an Austrian author and former actress .

Life

Katharina Winkler grew up in Upper Austria. From 1997 to 2002 she studied German , theater studies and philosophy at the University of Vienna and did her doctorate in German. After studying acting at the Vienna Conservatory, she worked in theater productions and between 2003 and 2010 in various film productions.

Her debut novel Blauschmuck was published by Suhrkamp in 2016 . In blue jewelry , Katharina Winkler tells the martyrdom of a Kurdish wife based on a true life story. The book was shortlisted for the Austrian Book Prize (Debut) in 2016 , translated into several languages and received various international awards.
